Chippenham Street Names

This book hopes to show that the history and character of a place, and its inhabitants, can be discovered through the naming of its streets. Many photographs you will see here are from private collections which have never been available to the public before.

Collaboration on social media has allowed them to be shared for the first time. With the assistance of current and former residents of the town, official records, newspapers and many other sources, it has been possible to explain why particular names were used.
