Description

The new and most pleasant Game of Goose, this race game was popular in Tudor times. For up to 6 people, and suitable for aged 6+ the board is made of traditional linen. See if you can make your way to the finish line as you encounter setbacks and bonus squares in this classic historic game.

Said to have been invented for Francesco de Medici who gave it to the miserable Philip II of Castile to cheer him up! Philip was soon afterwards to lose his Armada so was probably quite glad of a bit of entertainment. John Wolfe, who described the game as ‘The Newe and Most Pleasant Game of Goose’, registered it in London in 1597.
