Description
The medieval catapult was a siege weapon used in medieval warfare to launch rocks, burning objects, or diseased animals over castle walls. This allowed attackers to damage or destroy the castle’s defences, walls, and buildings, making it easier to take control of the castle. Catapults were used in many famous sieges during the Middle Ages. Despite their destructive power, catapults were also expensive and difficult to construct and maintain, so they were used sparingly and were typically reserved for the most important sieges.
